FORT HARMONY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Sketches of the Fort done by Louise Crosby from St. George were displayed for the Committee members to see. These sketches come in either red or grey, and each Committee member will receive one. They will also be available for a $25 donation. Sign Vernile is preparing the sign, and Karen will be providing some pictures. It will include the restored Fort, a plot plan, the Memorial Garden and special lettering. Budget Lyman discussed the budget with the Committee and reviewed the process
involved with using the 5013C3 Partnership Color Country, Resource
Conservation and Development, Inc.. We received $450 from the
sale of the CDs to the Lee family, and we now have $1,750 in the RC
& D account. This agency works with the Five County Association
to help people begin to develop societies like this one to assist them
with legal concerns, etc. Everything we do is covered under the RC &
D, and they cover liability protection for the Board members. BYU Archeological Dig Richard Talbot with BYU will be starting October 8th to prepare for the dig. He has to do a site plan on paper and measure, etc. Karen will find out if he will be bringing assistants, and Jim Maxwell will find them a place to stay. Some suggestions were given for possible places. Roland Lee, Artist Roland Lee will be here on Monday, September 24th at 9:00 am to look at the possibility of doing a full scale painting of the restored Fort. This will be the first actual painting done of the Fort. Report on the Church and Land Issues Jim discussed with the committee the church and land issues. The Public Land Trust will be visiting us to find out how they can help us. Their initial conversations with Lyman indicate they may be able to purchase the land and give it to us. Jim reported we have an attorney, Steven Swindall, who will be moving to the valley, and will become a resource for the legal matters pertaining to land issues. Lecture Brent Prince will be giving the lecture this month on Thursday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m. Apple Fest Berdean took an application from the Board to have a table at the Apple Fest to sell the CDs, Fort sketches, tapes, etc. The fee is $30. A motion for approval was given by Vernile Prince and seconded by Jim Maxwell to authorize the Board to pay this application fee from petty cash. Next Meeting The meeting adjourned at 5:44 p.m. The next Board meeting will be October 3rd at 5:00 p.m.
